![]() Lynne at the 2016 Highway School He served on the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Low Volume Roads Committee for many years and was one of its first emeritus members. ![]() As part of CLRP’s extensive program of technical assistance and training to thousands of local highway departments throughout New York State, he led the development and delivery of the Annual School for Highway Superintendents for over four decades and the Statewide Conference on Local Bridges for more than two. Lynne-1996 Lynne Irwin, Associate Professor, was the Director of the Cornell Local Roads Program (CLRP) from 1973-2014 and continued as Senior Advisor after retirement.Īs Director of CLRP for over 40 years, he established the model on which the highly successful national Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) is based. He will be missed by everyone in the highway community who knew his passion. He was my mentor, my colleague, and my friend. I knew Lynne for almost 30 years, starting when I was a student in his Highway Engineering class. It is with a heavy heart that I let you know of the passing of our long-time Director, Lynne Irwin, this week.
